Welcome to Downtown Vancouver's Coal Harbour Neighbourhood
Explore this scenic waterfront community
Bordered by the Burrard inlet to the north, West Georgia Street to the south, Stanley Park to the west and Canada Place to the east, Coal Harbour is an area known for its magnificent water views, calm neighbourhood, and lots of casual and upscale restaurants along the waterfront. There is a long paved walkway along the water which stretches from Canada Place all the way into and around Stanley Park. It is known as the Seawall, where people come from all over to enjoy casual walking or jogging while taking in the beautiful views of the North Shore mountains. When the weather is extra nice, you could even catch people doing yoga or light weightlifting in the nearby Harbour Green Park!
Living in Coal Harbour also means living within walking distance to the famous Stanley Park. You can expect lots of fun weekend activities right at your fingertips! You can choose to jog, walk or bike along the Seawall while admiring the local wildlife. It is also home to 400 hectares of West Coast rainforest which you could stroll through. Beautiful beaches, kilometers of hiking trails, historical landmarks—truly fit for those with an adventurous outdoor spirit!
Along the Seawall is the Coal Harbour Community Centre, which offers multi-purpose rooms for all occasions, a dance studio, gymnasium, playground, and childcare for school age children. Sometimes, they even offer preschool programs!
This neighbourhood is also home to many local attractions which you can show your family and friends when they visit you! Canada Place has attractions such as FlyOver Canada where they can take a virtual 4D flight over the country and see what the rest of Canada looks like. They may also enjoy seeing Jack Poole Plaza, which was home to the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games and also showcases Douglas Coupland’s digital orca sculpture. In the winter, the annual Vancouver Christmas Market offers authentic German food and drink, and a twinkling European inspired Christmas village to stroll through.
Coal Harbour is the perfect place for families with young children, or young Vancouverites who love the outdoors and prefer to be close to water and nature. It may be a picturesque and peaceful neighbourhood, but fear not, there is an abundance of sights and activities all year round here!
